Frequently Asked Questions

We help over 50s, employees and business owners, who are planning for retirement or already there. People who've worked hard, saved well, and want a financial planner who takes the time to get to know them and give them sound, straight advice.
Most of our clients fit into one of these four groups:
Employees or business owners five to ten years from retirement who want to know they're on track and doing the right things
People on the home stretch, one to three years out who want a clear date, a simple plan, and the confidence to stop working
Retirees who want peace of mind that their money will last the distance, and someone trustworthy looking after it
People managing money on their own after loss, separation, or inheritance, who want someone they can trust to take the worry off their plate
We're not the right fit if you're after a quick, one-off transaction or a product recommendation. And if you're early in your career and focused on budgeting or paying off debt, you'd be better served by someone who specialises in that stage of life.
-
There's no magic number. We don't have a minimum balance or an entry requirement. What matters more is the fit. Are you at a stage of life where proper financial planning will make a real difference? Are you looking for someone who'll stick around for the long haul, not just a one-off transaction?
Most of our clients are over 50 with decent super and a home. Some have more, some have less. The common thread isn't a dollar figure. It's that they've worked hard, they've been sensible with money, and they want someone they can trust to help them make the most of it.

Our fees are fixed and transparent, with one fee for your financial plan and setup, and an ongoing annual support fee. Fees are based on the complexity of your situation and the value of the advice you need, not on how much money you have. Before you commit to anything, we will provide you with a proposal that spells out exactly what we'll do, how we'll do it, and what it'll cost. No surprises. You'll have time to read it, think about it, and ask as many questions as you need to. We won't start until you're comfortable.
Financial plan and set-up fees typically start from $6,600 (inc GST)
Our annual ongoing support fee starts from $6,600 (inc GST)

It starts with a phone call. Just a chat. You tell us a bit about your situation, we explain how we work, and we both figure out if it's a good fit. If it is, we book an introductory meeting at our Newstead office. That meeting is about your life as much as your money. From there, we provide you wit a proposal outlining how we can help and how much it will cost. With your go ahead, we put a financial plan together and implementation the recommendations. When everything is in place we schedule an annual review meeting to check-in and keep you on track.

The first call is just a conversation. Come as you are. You don't need to know your super balance, or dig out paperwork. If we decide to work together, we'll walk you through exactly what we need and when.
-
No. We don't sell products. Never have. We give advice. Practical, sensible advice on the financial decisions that shape your life. We don't work on commission. We don't push investments. We don't get paid more for recommending one thing over another. Our only job is to help you make good decisions with your money. That's it. If something's not right for you, we'll say so. If you don't need something, we won't recommend it.
-
Please do. We'd actually encourage it. Money affects the whole family, and the more people around the table who understand the plan, the better. We often sit down with couples, and it's not unusual for adult children to join in, especially when aged care or estate planning is part of the conversation. We want everyone to feel comfortable and on the same page. That's how the best plans get made.

We all have qualifications in accounting as well as financial planning, but we don't provide general accounting services. Our focus is squarely on financial planning. The one exception is tax returns: we prepare tax returns for existing Bailiwick clients. Because we already know your full financial picture, we're well placed to make sure you're not paying more than you need to. It's one less thing to think about.
